Kelley’s love of color, pattern and form inspired a passion that ran parallel to her design career—fashion illustration. As an illustrator she was inspired early on by René Grau, Carl Erickson, Merle Basset and René Bouché. The painters Cezanne, Van Gogh, Gaugin, Matisse and Toulouse-Lautrec also had a profound influence on the development of her style. She worked from runway and other editorial photos, producing works on paper primarily using ink, gouache and pastel.
